15-year-old boy shot dead in Mississauga Outside of School

The most violent year in Peel Region's history continued last night as a 15-year-old boy was shot dead behind a school in Mississauga.

Police confirmed that the victim was found behind St. Jude Separate School at 175 Nahani Way, in the Eglinton Ave. E. and Hurontario St. area, at around 6:30 p.m.

The victim had no vital signs when police arrived but was taken to hospital. Police have not apprehended the male suspect.

The suspect is described as black, early 20's, no further description of the suspect was available but police were interviewing several witnesses last night. There are three schools and a community centre in the area, police said.

Yesterday's death brings Peel's homicide total to 19 – a record for the region. Last year, there were 15 homicides; in 2006, 12 people were killed.
