Two people were shot dead this morning, and several others wounded, at a Brampton house party.Peel police were called to a house on Chinguacousy Rd. just South of Queen St. W at around 5 a.m. where they say two people were found dead. Police said that several others were shot but would not say how many.
Currently the house is rented to a Jamaican couple with a visible Jamaican flag perched outside the house, though nothing more is known at this time.
"It was very chaotic. There were a number of people at the scene that we had to ensure got medical treatment," said Const. J.P. Valade.
Neighbours say the house is used as an after-hours club, with at least 25-30 people coming in and out of the house regularly on weekends. A security guard who was working at the house during the shooting told on-lookers that guns were brought in through a back window.
Some residents asked today view the deadly shooting as the latest sign that their neighbourhood has become troubled in recent years.
One 19-year-old Sheridan College student who wouldn't give his name said he was robbed not far from the shooting site. Another resident said his son was robbed last March.
Anyone with information is asked to call Peel police at 905-453-2121, or anonymously at Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
