A man with a familial connection to a 2001 GTA murder sustained multiple gunshot wounds near Yorkdale and Allen Wednesday afternoon. As many as 23 shell casings were found after the gunfire on Highland Hill near Sparrow Road around 5:10pm.
"My kids were actually watching cartoons downstairs and they heard 10 to 12 shots in the basement ... they thought fireworks were going off," said area resident Julio Marchese.
"The victim in this matter was riding his bike here on highland and was approached by two males in a motor vehicle who opened fire on him," explained Insp. Art Little, 32 Division. Later Wednesday CityNews learned the identity of the victim. Wayne Lewis is the brother of Michael Lewis, a respected man killed while trying to break up a fight nearby eight years ago. On Wednesday, Lewis sustained at least two gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital where his condition remains unclear. Police are looking for two black males who took off in a silver BMW or Acura.
